Assumes responsibility for knowledge of pediatric pathophysiology, injuries, growth and development and adherence to Structure and Process Standards for select patient population. b. Collects data on assigned patients as directed by the unit based Performance Standards, CPG s, Patient Management Protocols, Standards of Care, and policy and procedures. c. Performs accurate documentation duties in patient records as directed by the Structure Standards and Guidelines. d. Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as allowed with the LVN scope of practice. 3. Implements Plan of Care developed by Registered Nurse (RN) a. Assist the RN in evaluation of effectiveness of care given via CPG s, Patient Management Protocols, Standards of Care, Structure Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines. b. Participates in discharge and patient/family teaching as directed by the RN, CPG s, Patient Management Protocols, Standards of Care and Teaching Care Plans. c. Demonstrates an understanding of emergency response and effectively intervenes and responds appropriately. d. Communicates all pertinent information including findings, problems, concerns or ideas to assign RN, utilizing appropriate lines of authority in a timely manner. 4. Team Collaboration a. Promotes a constructive and positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to cooperate with and assist fellow health team members as well as patients and their families. b. Demonstrates effective problem solving through active problem identification and in collaboration with the RN implements strategies of resolution. c. Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflict. Participates in temporary assignment measures for provision of care in all departments of nursing. 5. Responsibility for Practice a. Demonstrates awareness of and assumes responsibility for nursing practice which falls within the prescribed scope of practice for LVN as defined in the state s Nurse Practice Act. Participates in peer review. b. Assumes responsibility for professional growth development by participating in interdisciplinary team rounds, patient cares conferences, inservice programs, competency and continual education classes/modulars. c. Seeks guidance and validation of knowledge base, skill level and decision making as necessary, especially in areas of question, from assigned RN. d. Functions with an awareness and application of safety issues as identified by the hospital/DON Structure of Standards. 6. Department Goals and Objectives a. Participates in development and attainment of self, unit and nursing department goals and objectives.
