JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Assists with the maintenance of PACU equipment and inventory. Participates in performance improvement activities. Coordinates nursing care for operating room patients during the immediate postoperative period; responsible for monitoring patient s physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment. Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously, and as needed, about patient conditions; receives direction for patient management. Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis. Will cross-train for a minimum role in OR, infection control, moderate sedation and environment of care. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Preferred one-year recent PAR/OR work experience. EDUCATION: Graduate of professional school of nursing. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. BLS/ACLS certification required. Certification in Med/Surg and /or Geriatric Nursing preferred. PALS preferred. APTITUDES: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations.
